Submission is a 10 minute film that was directed by Theo van Gogh and written by Ayaan Hirshi Ali (a former member of the Tweede Kamer (House of Representatives of the Dutch parliament) for the Dutch People's Party for Freedom and Democracy). It was first aired on the Dutch public broadcasting network (VPRO) on August 29, 2004. The word "Submission" is the literal and direct translation of "Islam" ("submission" as in submission to Allah). Submission exposes the barbaric treatment of women within Islam, including verses from the Koran that justify the abuse of women.

The film tells the story of four fictional Muslim women who have been abused in different ways. The women are played by a single actress, who has serious scars from beatings on her back, along with verses from the Koran written on her. One of the characters in the movie has also been raped by a relative.

Hirshi Ali has stated that "it is written in the Koran a woman may be slapped if she is disobedient. This is one of the evils I wish to point out in the film". She has also said that "if you're a Muslim woman and you read the Koran, and you read in the there that you should be raped if you say 'no' to your husband, that is offensive. And that is insulting".

The film received both highly positive and highly negative reviews. leftists, the creators of the communist doctrine of "Political Correctness" quickly condemned the film as "offensive", "hateful", "bigoted", and "racist" (note that since Islam is not a race, being against it is thus not racism). Many Muslims went even further than that by issuing death threats to both Theo Van Gogh and Ayaan Hirsi Ali. On November 2, 2004, Mohammed Bouyeri, an Islamic terrorist assassinated Theo Van Gogh by shooting him eight times, and later stabbing him right in the middle of a street in broad daylight! Some Islamic riots against the movie also occurred, including demonstrations in support of Bouyeri. Ayaan Hirsi Ali was forced into hiding. She was later expelled from Tweede Kamer, in 2006, after an "investigation" revealed she was had given false information about her real name, her age and the country she arrived from when originally applying for asylum. It is interesting that though she had been living in Holland since 1992, this "investigation" only took place in 2005 or 2006, after the release of Submission.

Submission was one of many cases of leftist and Islamic attacks on the Freedom of Speech. And, we all know that Freedom of Speech is only taken away by those who feel threatened (of being exposed). For any rational and reasonable individuals would start a debate or discussion about whatever issue may be brought up; instead of resorting to insults, (death) threats, the creation of new laws to silence those who they disagree with, and even murder. "Political Correctness" was created by leftists to silence those who could prove them wrong or, at least, those they were afraid could prove them wrong. Islamic terrorist threats and attacks intended to silence those who dare criticize Islam only show that Islamic apologists cannot disprove the claims of Islam being a barbaric religion.

The brutal, savage, and terroristic murder of Theo Van Gogh and the silencing campaign against Hirsi Ali by the Dutch government and media should never be forgotten.
